What Is Canine Rehabilitation?
Canine rehabilitation is a specialized field focused on improving the mobility, comfort, and quality of life of dogs recovering from injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. By combining techniques such as therapeutic exercises, hydrotherapy, and manual therapy, it helps restore strength, flexibility, and function while reducing pain. Rehabilitation services require a referral from your veterinarian.
What Conditions Are Treated?
Our canine rehabilitation services address a broad spectrum of conditions to help dogs regain their mobility, strength, and quality of life. Whether your dog is experiencing decreased weight bearing, deconditioning, or recovering from fractures or surgeries such as FHO, TPLO, or CCL repairs, we are here to help. We also provide specialized care for dogs dealing with neurological challenges, obesity, arthritis, strokes, or intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). No matter the issue, our goal is to create a tailored plan to support your dog's recovery and well-being.
Initial Assessment & Treatment - $150
Your pet's rehabilitation journey begins with a referral from your veterinarian, as required by the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association. Once the referral is received, we'll contact you to schedule an initial assessment with Cynthia.
During this one-hour session, Cynthia will assess your dog’s gait, strength, range of motion, points of tenderness, and more. She’ll provide some initial treatment and teach you exercises to continue at home.
Subsequent Rehabilitative Therapy - $85
Follow-up sessions are 40 minutes. These sessions focus on achieving your dog's specific rehabilitation goals.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is a specialized water-based therapy that promotes recovery, strength, and weight loss. We offer two types of hydrotherapy:
Hydrotherapy Treatment - This option is ideal for dogs requiring close attention and detailed monitoring during their therapy. It focuses on targeted treatment to support recovery and improve mobility.
Hydrotherapy Conditioning - Designed for dogs working on strength-building, flexibility, or weight loss, these sessions help achieve fitness goals in a controlled environment.
Both options ensure your dog’s progress is closely monitored and regularly communicated with the rehabilitation team to keep treatments on track.
Rehabilitation Programs - $695
Every dog is unique, which is why we create tailored rehabilitation and conditioning plans designed around your pet’s specific needs and veterinary feedback. This comprehensive program includes various treatment options scheduled over a period of time to ensure consistent progress and optimal results. By choosing this package, the average pet owner saves over $150 compared to booking individual sessions. Ask about our rehabilitation program during your initial assessment.
Insurance Coverage
Many pet insurance providers recognize the value of rehabilitation services and offer coverage for all or part of our treatments, including hydrotherapy. Coverage often depends on the specific policy, so we recommend reviewing your plan or speaking with your provider to understand what is included. While we cannot offer direct billing, most providers process claims quickly, allowing you to focus on your pet’s care without unnecessary delays. Let us know if you need help navigating the claims process.
Why Do You Require a Referral?
We require a referral from your veterinarian before starting treatment to ensure your pet receives the safest and most effective care possible. This requirement is in compliance with provincial legislation and the standards set by the New Brunswick Veterinary Medical Association, which governs animal care in the province. A referral allows us to work collaboratively with your veterinarian, ensuring that your dog’s rehabilitation plan is aligned with their medical history, diagnosis, and ongoing veterinary oversight.

“Cynthia is wonderful and has really helped my dog. She’s patient, listens to all your concerns and very understanding especially since my dog is very anxious he’s improved a lot and has a lot more strength in his back legs and hips she gives a detailed report and is available to go over anything you are unsure of which is great for the homework you do at home. So happy to have found this place! Thank you!”
